There are many different definitions for what service to your country is, but the only true description is to do something that benefits your country. When you think of service to your country you immediately think military. This is an example of service to your country but there are many other ways to benefit the country. If you hold a political office then you can make decisions to benefit the country. Also, if you are a teacher then you benefit the country in many ways. There are many ways to benefit your country that are not thought of during everyday life.

Overall, service to your country means to enlist into the army to most people. If you are in the army then there are several ways that you are helping your country. One of these ways you is showing your sense of pride for your country which can raise the moral of people living in the U.S.

You also are out there in the heat of battle standing up for your country against enemies or terrorists. When you join the National Guard it means that you love your country even more because you are willing to go the extra mile and receive more training to help out the war effort.

Furthermore, if you hold a political office then you can benefit the country the same amount as if you are in the army. However, you could be hurting your country instead. If you hold a high office, like president, then you can make decisions that will change life for everyone. If you hold a smaller office, like mayor, then you can make decisions that help the people in your community.
