SEVENTEEN

She didn't understand why everyone seemed to fade away. She is just 17. She is such a baby. She needs to grow up a little.

It's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. She would tell them HER story. But why. They wouldn't listen. She is only 17.

She is suffering. No, she's happy. She is grateful. She thanks God for what she has. She doesn't complain. It's just wanting a life.

She can't seem to know people in this town. They are aliens.

***

She is sitting outside of café with her friend, drinking her cappuccino and smoking a cigarette. The evening breeze enlightens her. She ordered stuffed mushrooms with vegetables. Lonely is a man without love.

***

Sometimes she cries. For no reason. No, she's happy. She just wants to move to THAT city. It's calling her. That's where she is supposed to be.

That's where people from her planet live. She's confused.... She just moved from another world, but she doesn't miss it. She misses THAT city. Even these candles are different here. It's like they know where she's coming from. Candles.

***

She loves her dad. He's always with her. Sounds cliche. But there's no other way to explain it. Only people who never lost anyone who they loved won't understand. But she doesn't care. It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. She wishes she was more close to him. But she was just a child. Wait, it was only 2 years ago. Feels like forever though. .

***

Some people change more in 2 years than other do in 20.

***

Only the good die young. That is why immortality is reserved for the greatest of evils.

***

She has time. They will see the real person behind that mask. She is only 17.
