Abstract

In spite of the gradual progress that is being made, sexism continues to be a factor that affects the lives of many women everywhere in the world. Being forced to maintain an image, act/play a certain role in life is tiring, and can often hurt woman's feelings because they begin to feel second best to man. Aspects being presented are: new and old beliefs about sexism, the everyday use of sexism, neutralizing sexism, Social Dominance Orientation, the emotional affects has on women, theories that attribute to sexism, and how media can be sexist. Most issues dealing with sexism are being considered.

Anything you can do I can do too

A man walks into a bar, and says to his buddy, what is the difference between a battery and a woman? A battery has a positive side! The men both laugh, and continue to enjoy their night, while making jokes at women's expense.

Is he considered to be a sexist, maybe, maybe not, but this is just one man who had a not so serious joke to use against a female, there are plenty of other men out there, that have a mouthful to say about women, and most of the time, they are not hesitant to letting woman know what it is they are feeling toward them. I chose to do my research on sexism, because, even though now sexism is not such a huge deal anymore, it still happens, women are forced to be victimized by it, and also I wanted to see what causes males to feel/believe that they are better...
