Sharks are one of the most ancient groups of animals. They lived 200 million years before dinosaurs walked the earth. Sharks are one of the most odd fish in the sea. Some scientists cannot decide if it's a fish or mammal. Did you know that Sharks don't have a bone in their body? Their skeletons are made up of cartilage. Cartilage is a tough material that is easier to bend than a bone.

As I was observing the shark's skeleton, I noticed that the ribs are pointy. Indians that lived in Floridia used shark's teeth as arrowheads. Sharks have rough skin like sandpaper. That is how sandpaper was invented. Did you know that more people are killed by bee stings than shark bites? There are many kinds of odd sharks, such as the goblin shark, frilled shark, sawtooth shark, carpet shark and hammerhead shark.

The Manta Ray is a type a shark.

Their bodies have been flattened. I have enjoyed learning about sharks. I hope that you have learned something as well.
