We supposedly live in a civilized society and yet certain states in America still believe in the most brutal and barbaric method of punishment, capital punishment. Also known as the death penalty, capital punishment is the most severe form of corporal punishment because it requires law enforcement officers to kill the offender. It has been banned in many countries, in the United States, an earlier move to eliminate capital punishment has now been reversed and more and more states are resorting to capital punishment for serious offenses such as murder. If America continues these outrageous acts then America is nothing better than the criminals on death row. Capital punishment is given to prisoners who are convicted of committing unspeakable acts and after years in prison some welcome their demise. However the question remains, should capital punishment be legal? Capital punishment should not be legal because of unreliability, prisoner's rights, and violation of the eighth amendment.
