Should we have started the Iraq War?

Was the Iraq war necessary? Yes and no. The Iraq war was necessary because we don't want to fight a war on our homeland, in our towns and villages. Also the Iraq war isn't necessary because war kills people, their people and our soldiers, that are young men and women of our country. The Iraq war is a complicated subject. I believe the Iraq war was necessary because we do not want another 9/11, but I hate war and I think war should be avoided at all costs because killing people is wrong.

In former President George W. Bush's Speech on Iraq he says, “For a generation leading up to September the 11th, 2001, terrorists and their radical allies attacked innocent people in the Middle East and beyond, without facing a sustained and serious response. The terrorists became convinced that free nations were decadent and weak. And they grew bolder, believing that history was on their side.

Since America put out the fires of September the 11th, and mourned our dead, and went to war, history has taken a different turn. We have carried the fight to the enemy. We are rolling back the terrorist threat to civilization, not on the fringes of its influence, but at the heart of its power.” He is saying that for years the terrorists attacked our country after they attacked and killed their own people. They believed that free nations like America are weak. So instead of fighting the war on our lands we are fighting it in their streets and their homes. Also former President George W. Bush states, “In Iraq, we are helping the long suffering people of that country to build a decent and democratic society at the center of the Middle East.
