SNOW DAY
The first flake falls,
We're overcome with ecstasy.
A white mantle disguising the earth,
Hiding the grass from all.
Bodies wandering through milky powder alleys,
With snow descending from the heavens.
Families convene beside the hearth of love,
Benevolence, altruism, affection ,circulating through the air.
School is out for the day
We're playing outside.
Having a snow fight,
Erecting a snowman,
Through the wee hours of night.
We attempt to dispose the damnable disputant
The one who possesses the plow,
For he controls the fate of this dreamy day.
But we all really know snow will be gone tomorrow,
But no one seems to care.
Everyone's caught up in the moment,
One which we wish will last a lifetime.
Nice imagery
this is a good poem. I can really relate to it. It brings out emotion in the reader. The one thing I would suggest a change in is the tempo. After, "School is out for the day," the tempo speeds up. It would be nice if there were more of a transition back to slow. The "we attempt to dispose..." line is rather long compared to previous lines. Softening it would be nice. Still, very nice poem.
