Introduction

Staffing is "Deciding what type of people should be hired; recruiting prospective employees; selecting employees; setting performance standards; compensating employees; evaluating performance; counseling employees; training and developing employees" (Dessler, 2000). ACME Rocket Corporation has recently undergone many changes in response to the ever-changing trends in globalization, technology, diversity, e-business and ethics. These trends maximize the effectiveness of these staffing practices and selection tools to better meet current and future employment needs.

E-HR (Globalization, Technology and e-business)

ACME Rocket continues to capitalize on global market strategies by taking advantage of today's cutting edge technology. The accelerating availability of information technology within the global market has maximized efforts to bring ACME Rocket's individual business units together with greater uniformity for HR systems, services and infrastructures.

By efficiently managing globalization it improves the quality and strategic value of HR activities. Implementing new e-business formats allows the corporation to operate more efficiently and reduce costs through continuous infrastructure improvements.

ACME Rocket has utilized technology by providing all HR services, benefits, and payroll information under one e-HR system. This new self-service e-HR system replaces many of the administrative functions traditionally performed by HR in the business, such as the traditional fill-in the-blank forms for HR administrative functions.

In addition, by utilizing the Internet ACME has created a whole new resource and marketplace for candidates, through online applications. ACME Rocket places people in this new process and uses this innovative trend to reach out and connect with the right candidates.
