While there are several similarities with these 2 epic story lines, there are also many differences. For starters they both take place, primarily in outer space using advanced technologies to travel around their respective galaxies. There are starships, which can travel faster than light, and many worlds to be explored or conquered. There are small battles and entire wars fought within these imaginary worlds. One was created by the late Gene Rodenberry, and the other from the mind of George Lucas. While both have many interesting facets, they are unique and similar at the same time.

The first area that differs is where the stories take place. Star Wars takes place in a Galaxy far, far away, with Corosant being the primary capitol of the Galactic Republic. While Star Trek takes place in the future of our own galaxy with Earth being the base of operations for the United Federation of Planets. There are also many species included in the masses of these story lines. Including the Klingons, Romulans, Vulcans, Feringi, and the Trill from Star Trek. And the there are also many races, which include the Huts, Jawas, Twi'lek, Wookie, and Bothans, within the Star Wars universe.

The ships are another main focus of these epics. The U.S.S. Enterprise is the main ship in Star Trek, with others such as the U.S.S. Voyager, and U.S.S. Defiant taking center stage in other shows. There are many ships used throughout the Star Wars universe, some of which, such as the Millennium Falcon and the X-wing, being a major part of the story. While Star Trek is primarily focused on one particular ship, and the people who live aboard it, Star Wars is more character based.
