I believe that anabolic steroids are undermining the athletic world. Young athletes look up to their favorite sports stars and want to be just like them when they grow up, so are they telling the younger athletes to take steroids? I believe they have a major influence on the number of youth who are taking steroids who want to make it to the professional level. Steroids are a very dangerous drug to such ignorant populous such as young athletes to be exposed to.

While anabolic steroids can enhance certain types of performance or appearance, they are dangerous drugs, and when used inappropriately, they can cause a host of severe, long-lasting, and often irreversible negative health consequences. These drugs can stunt the height of growing adolescents, masculinize women, and alter sex characteristics of men. Anabolic steroids can lead to premature heart attacks, strokes, liver tumors, kidney failure and serious psychiatric problems.

The main threat to such young adults is that it will hurt their growth, "Anabolic steroids can halt growth prematurely in adolescents."What happens is that steroids close the growth centers in a kid's bones", says Dr. Wadler.
