A system of inquiry is a tool companies can employ to assist in the process of resolving ethical issues and problem-solving within an organizational environment. The system of inquiry will differ in configuration depending on managerial objectives, conclusions, and principle. The purpose of this paper is to create a system of inquiry to use in decision-making, problem-solving and in addressing behavior in a business setting. The paper will include a framework for the model, a discussion of why, how, when and by whom it is used and a discussion of how to implement the system of inquiry, possible reactions to the System of Inquiry from employees, and the effect the System of Inquiry would have on the organization.

System of Inquiry Defined

A system of inquiry is an instrument organizations may find helpful in deciding necessary steps to ensure business decision-making methods and problem-solving procedures are ethical and correspond with the organization's code of ethics.

Typically a system of inquiry composes of a set of questions that selected representatives within the organization apply to appraise potential resolutions to ethical dilemmas. Consequently, a system of inquiry serves as a guide for problem-solving, decision-making, and behavior modification in a business setting.
