Teenagers When I was a teenager life was different than it is today. First of all, when I was a teenager the world was not so violent. We could walk down dark roads and would not be worried about someone pulling up next to us in their car, demanding our wallets or our life. If there was a lot of violence back then, we did not know, because it was not dis- played all over television as it is today. Don't misunderstand me, what I am saying is there was violence back then, but not as much as it is today. The music, we could listen to and understand what the artist was singing about.
Some of the best love songs were made during my teenage years. Songs like "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul, "Reason" by Earth, Wind & Fire, " I Wanna Get Next To You" by Rose Royce, " My Girl" by the Temptations, " I Miss You" by Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes and the list could go on and on.

Another thing was that most parents had control over their kids. Parents could whip there kid and didn't have the fear of going to jail because of it. If teenagers misbehave at school or around the neighborhood, teachers and neighbors were allow to spank them. When the word got back to your parent, you would get another whipping. When I was a teenager, I did not like the spankings that I got, but I know that they made me a better person. There was no such thing as child abuse...
