They believe that by drinking these energy supplements they will easily gain the necessary boost to perform well in a sporting event or to stay up late to study. But what are the effects of energy drinks on your health? Many studies show energy drinks can have many negative effects on our bodies especially for people under the age of 18. Many people believe that drinking energy drinks can improve your performance during exercise. However, energy drinks should not be used while exercising as the combination of fluid loss from sweating and diuretic quality of caffeine can leave someone severely dehydrated. Energy drinks can cause heart problems for people who consume these drinks. Caffeine can cause heart cells to release calcium, which may affect heartbeat, leading to arrhythmia. The drinks may also disrupt the normal balance of salts in the body, which has also been linked to arrhythmia.
