VEGETARIANISM

Meat is a food that most people love to eat, but some people only like vegetables such as fruits, nuts, grains, and legumes, these people are called vegetarians. They do not eat animal products like fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy products.

Vegetarianism began in India and in eastern Mediterranean lands. An international federation of vegetarian was founded in 1889 and in 1908.

There are four types of vegetarians.

Vegetarians who eat plant sources and some dairy products and avoid animal source foods, including eggs are called Lacto Vegetarians.

Ova Lacto Vegetarians are the ones who avoid meat, fish, and poultry, but they eat eggs and dairy products.

Vegetarians who only eat fish, rice, and vegetables are called Pesco Vegetarians.

Another type of vegetarianism is called Pollo Vegetarians, these people eat poultry such as chicken, duck, and birds but they don't eat red meat.

Vegetarians prefer food in it's most natural way, opposing the use of chemicals in growing or harvesting food and avoiding processed or canned foods. The vegetarian diet has been recognized as having some value in reducing the risk of heart disease, certain types of cancer, and other diet - related sickness.

Some jewish and christian groups followed the principles of vegetarianism and considered eating flesh, cruel and wasteful.

There are many reasons for becoming a vegetarian. Here are some reasons.

Health - Some people are vegetarians because vegetables are low in fat and contain less calories. Plants and vegetables are also rich in fiber which is very necessary in daily diet.

Economy - Those who are vegetarians claim that it is less expensive to bu0
