"Quite an adult book but very real. For anyone who has ever had a crush that has turned into a minor obsession, or had a holiday so good they never want to go home, give it a try." Book Rating: ***three stars (good, but not perfect) Category: A Good Read What is this book about? It is told from the viewpoint of a thirteen-year-old boy, Lewis. Lewis leaves behind his home and his father in Dorset, England and goes to Paris with his mother, Alice, for a summer of discoveries and experiences. They both go and stay with big, beautiful and rich Russian novelist Valentina, while Alice translates her book into English. (This is her job.) The more eventful the summer gets, the more captivated, even perhaps obsessed, with Valentina Lewis becomes. An interesting and at times captivating book.

What did you like about the book? Or, who was your favorite character in the book and why? You really feel as if you are there, in Paris, walking beside Lewis in the hot sun.

Lewis is an easy character to like, and you feel yourself rooting for him, which is always very important.

Was there anything you didn't like about the story or the writing style? The descriptiveness of the book is great, but sometimes it can go over the top and get boring.

Do you have any other comments about yourself or the book that would give us a better understanding of your review? If you are shocked easily then don't read this book. But most people thirteen + will enjoy it.
