One of the greatest figures of the 20th century, Winston Churchill unified the allies and helped lead them to victory against the greatest military threat of the time. A brilliant politician and military analyst he held his country together in the worst of times. He accomplished great things after much suffering and turmoil, but Churchill's path to power was not an easy one. Through his efforts though, he succeeded in doing everything he promised and set out to do for his country and should be looked upon as a source of inspiration.

Germany in 1939 was the greatest military threat in the world at the time. It and its fascist leader threatened democracy and the free world. Countries fell before its might, but like David against Goliath, this man would face the Nazi's head on. His name was Winston Churchill. One of the greatest leaders in history, Churchill was responsible for keeping England and Europe free and helped in overcoming Nazi Germany.

Few can accomplish what he did and fewer with such compassion and energy. He was the right man for the job and none could disagree. In his own famous words, "The price of greatness is responsibility." Churchill's courage and fearlessness toward danger carried not only his country to victory, but his legacy into greatness.

Winston Churchill's rise to power to become Prime Minister was long and challenging struggle. The Churchill history goes back generations. Winston was a descendent of the first Duke of Marlborough, John Churchill. His grandfather and father were also both Dukes. His life seemed destined for politics, but like many prominent sons in his position, he grew up at a boarding school and after graduating, enrolled into the Royal Military Academy in 1893.
