Why do you think Dickinson's rules became guiding principals for leaders of the new nation?

His rules became guiding principles for leaders of new nations because he tried to help create a government and showed principles that guided his viewpoints. The task of creating a government was a great challenge and when Dickinson did this correctly people followed in his lead.

Americans Debate Republicanism:

Explain how COLONIES BECAME STATES.

Colonies became states because british settlers in the North had founded not one colony but many, each with its own governor, council, and colonial assembly. This system encouraged people to think of colonies as a political unit and they became states and united under a strong government.

How did the new country gain UNITY THROUGH A REPUBLIC?

The country gained unity through a republic because they favored a republican government in which citizens rule their elected representatives. They unitized because they wanted to succeed and be successful with a government so they had to place the good of the nation above personal interests.

What were new STATE CONSTITUTIONS and why were they important?

The new state constitutions were them putting their rebulican ideas to practice and it guarenteed certain rights for citizens etc. They were important because it gave people rights and made their lives essentially better so they didnt rebel against the government.

Where did this new government find POLITICAL PRECEDENTS and how did they influence the new government?

There were few political systems that could serve as models for the new republic. In this previous century, the English had established a short-lived republic Italians started becoming self governed.
