  • Something's Missing

This is a decent enough essay as it goes, although it does have a few grammatical and even spelling errors, its general format is pretty good. The main problem is references that are never resolved. For example, "Document A" and "Nash" are referenced, yet we are never told what exactly these are. With a little editing and a bibliography, this could be a great essay.

  • A Good Essay

This essay treats not only its title question well, but explores the pros and cons of the alternatives, too. There are a few grammatical errors here, but overall it's very appropriate for its level. This is one of the better essays on this site.

  • Interesting, well-written but flawed conclusions

This is a well-written essay and discusses the problems of the Aral Sea and their causes fairly well. The proposed solution is unfortunately deeply flawed, not only from a cost-benefit analysis but also because the level of the Caspian Sea is roughly 75 feet below that of the Black Sea and about 200 feet below that of the Aral. Still, a worthwhile submission and with a bit of editing, a great one.

  • A Good Essay

This essay has a few minor grammatical errors, but is generally pretty well-written and appropriate to the high school level. Its summary of Washington's career is accurate and succinct. The only real problem is that the references in the text aren't backed up with a bibliography - the references to "Flexner" is to exactly what book, for example. With the addition of a bibliography, this would be an outstanding essay.

  • A Decent Essay

This is overall a well-written essay at an appropriate level. A bibliography would be nice, though - the references to "Shlain" are never resolved. From the subject matter, they are probably references to one of Leonard Shalin's many works - but which one? Other than that, this is excellent.

  • Good but Incomplete

This is a good essay but misses the first and most important thing to do - ensure that the scene is safe, so that the would-be rescuer does not become a victim himself. Other than that, the advice is good and the author's writing style is very good.

  • Good, Almost Great

The writing style of the author here is a bit unusual (such as beginning three paragraphs in a row with the word \"Now\") but he\'s obviously speaking from the heart. A good essay, with some rewording it could be a great one.

  • With reservations, a decent attempt.

The approach of using Marx to back one's point isn't one that you see very much today; it's an interesting perspective. Although I don't agree with some of the author's conclusions, they are fairly well-stated and well-defended. The biggest flaw is the author's apparent confusion between "United States", "America" and "the Americas", terms which he seems to think are equivalent. For example, the numbers he quotes from James are for the entirety of North and South America, not for the "United States", which the title indicates to be the area of interest. Nonetheless, a good essay.
