  • On speeches...

    You do a good job emphasizing your strengths and what you intend to do for your audience. But generally, I think it isn't a good idea to begin a speech with an apology, even for a technical difficulty. Instead, a joke would fit better. Once you apologize in a public speech, then you end up having to use the rest of your speech trying to convince your audience why they should listen, where otherwise, they would never know to expect a power point.

    This is a really good essay on sociology. You hit all the main points that define sociology and were able to include good descriptions of where you can go with this facinating discipline. I am taking "Principles of Sociology" and may even want to minor in it; it really does open your eyes to things you would normally take for granted.

    The purpose of my essay was to debate a topic, using what ever sources I could find. In their context, the verses I used were applicable and supported my thesis. Even if you don't hold the Bible as any authority, it can be used successfully as a reference.

    I really enjoyed reading this essay. My only comment is that your begining story is weak. If it is hypothetical then you to state it, so people aren't mislead. Also the circumstances in the story seem unrealistic. Joseph initially wants to abort the baby, but later is heart broken to see his baby given up for adoption...This is good stuff here, just work with your intro

  • Something to consider

    All of the scientific tests that you used in your essay were based on the adult mind that was decided on his or her sexuality, right? Could these same test be run on a child or infant to 'predict' their future preference? Or is that infringing on their free-will as much as it is to tell someone they are 'supposed' to be straight? You made some excellent points and your skill as a writer is obvious, but your topic doesn't hold water as you present it.

    An excellant essay! I love the fact that Christianity thrives even during persecution, as in the times of the apostles. Also, you touched on the point of the resurrection but failed to mention that without it, Christianity is the same as any other religion (centered around a dead prophet). Just something to consider.

    After reading this and your other essay on Browning, I am very impressed at your interpretation of British/Irish literature. I just finished AP English 12 and now after studying all of it makes me wish I could have read this essay sooner (My teacher was not as good as the one you have described).Great Work!

    "There is no longer any debate among biologists as to whether evolution occurred in the past and is still happening today." That seems to be an awfully lofty statement. Among what biologists? Did you talk to them ALL to find this out? Are you saying that ALL the biologists in the entire world believe in evolution? This just seems to be a childish argument that is not based on "facts", only contradictions.

    I loved reading this essay. I grew up as a "USMC Brat" and also have quite a bias towards them but even I learned new things after reading this. I know exactly the type of connection you feel with Marines. Because even as the daughter of a Marine, doing push-ups for punishment and other things of that nature, has given me a small share in the pride you expressed in your great essay. Thanks

    This standard bibliography was very thorough and well done. In my own study of Keats, I have not found more information on him than this author has included, or read any report that was marshalled as well as this. The transitions seem to be abrupt and disconnected within it self, but overall, a good essay.
