I was doing fine with this essay until it said cheating was fine. I do not believe "cheating is a shortcut to success." Very few successful people become successful by breaking the rules.

  • Good Bio

A nicely done biography. Starting with the incident which inspired the novel might have been a more interesting beginning. Also, sources should have been cited for this one. I learned things about Harper Lee I did not know, always a good thing in a paper.

  • A Good Start

Enough ideas in this to work into a good essay. Probably fit the assignment. Would be good to see the ideas developed and expanded.

  • Quotes Desirable

Good job of developing a thesis and supporting it throughout the paper. Some good quotes from the book would have helped strengthen the points made.

  • Bravo!

Remarkably well argued, documented and written essay on courage and "To Kill a Mockingbird." Great example of what good student writing should be. Excellent choice of quotes.

  • Some good ideas.

There were some good ideas in this paper but they were lost in repetition and careless errors. This book has extraordinary language in it yet most of the quotes selected were quite ordinary. The paper seemed to stop, not end.

  • Confusion

This essay bounced all over the place. It seemed like the author threw a bunch of ideas up in the air and typed them up in the order they landed. Some great quotes but a massive rewrite seems in order.

  • Two Essays?

I was a little confused by the inclusion of plagiarism in the first and last paragraphs as this paper seemed more on copyright infringement. Good information on copyright laws. I learned some things I didn't know.

  • Bases Covered

This essay does a good job of defining and demonstrating the components of plagiarism. The author's position is firm, clear, and well stated. Nice touch to move it to a higher moral level by included the world outside academics.

  • Some fun ideas.

There were some parts of this essay that made me smile. It wouldn't work as a research essay, but it does fine on voice and articulating the writer's position with some amusing examples.

  • Powerfully Argued

Excellent job of arguing the case against the death penalty for juveniles. Lists and develops all the major points, cites sources, and brings a personal voice to the essay. Do any of these have bibliographies?

  • Interesting Voice

This essay does a nice job of bringing the writer's voice to the debate. It definitely is a high school, not college level paper though.

  • A Little Dry

This essay was well written and well supported by experts but seemed a little heavy on facts and a little light on emotion. I'd delete the "prospect for future rehabilitation." as life without the possibility of parole makes rehabilitation moot.

  • Good Authorities

This essay did a good job of selecting authorities and weaving them skillfully into the paper. The token mention of the Bible seemed weak, I'd throw that out. Bibliography!

  • Best of What I've Read

This was the best Death Penalty essay, I've read so far. Great job of combing history, argumentation, and intriguing anecdotes. I'd rework the concluding paragraph and add a bibliography.

  • Bases Covered

This essay does a good job of articulating the major arguments for the death penalty. It would have been much stronger, however, if it had brought some experts to the table.
