    The sentence with the "like in" is not slang. Maybe if I put it as "like, in" then it would be better. And I forgot to mention that the topic was that I had to choose a "so what?" factor to write about. So in this paper the topic was "SO WHAT if the government controls us?" but I still had to give a brief summary of the book. Thanks for the comment though.
