  • Excellent

this is a thorough and well analyzed examination of European colonialism and its legacies as can be seen in African nations such as Uganda.Maybe the only thing lacking is a few sentences explaining the north-south exploitation that is mentioned.GREAT!

  • Correction*

"The Muslims stopped the Christians from visiting the holy places in Palestine."- Actually, Jerusalem was taken over by Muslims in the 6th century by the Caliph Umar Ibn Al Khatab, who clearly stated that Jerusalem would uphold religious tolerance and that any pilgrims can make a pilgrimage to the Holy Place as long as the were unarmed.

  • A one-sided account of the Crusades

The above essay glorifies the Crusaders and entirely assumes that their motives for the Crusades were puritanical and religious. This may be because the writer used Western Historians, who recount history based on the "chronica" which were a series of accounts tabulated by Christian Europeans in those days.According to sources from the Muslim world, as well as a few sources from the Western world, the Crusades started off with the premise of recapturing the Holy Land from the Muslims and fighting for their Religion, but what actually happened during the battles was quite different. The Crusaders pillaged cities and villages on their way to Jerusalem, and killed many innocent peasants and civilians, including Jews and Christians living in those cities.Jews and Christians and Muslims lived in tolerance of each other in the Holy Land before the Crusaders attempted to recapture it. When Umar Ibn Al KHatab took Jerusalem in the 6th century, he assured the inhabitants that they would be allowed religious freedom and tolerance to practice their faith as they chose. Now contrast this with when the Crusaders entered Jerusalem. They slaughtered Jewish people in their Synagoge, killed masses or Armenian, Syrian and Greek Jews in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and desecrated Muslims. In fact, whenever the Crusaders were successful in a battle and conquered a city or village, they divided up the spoils of war amongst themselves after killing/enslaving those inhabitants of the city regardless of their faith. In that time, according to many sources and reliable accounts, many Christian Greeks and Turks, who lived with the Muslim Turks and Arabs in cities such as Ma'arah and Tripoli, actually worked as spys for their Muslim leaders because in that region, people were not grouped by their religion, but by their national allegiance. On the other hand, many Muslim Turks were recruited as mercenaries for the Imperial Army which shows you that the Asian region did not view this as a Holy War, but rather as an invasion of their land. They didn't understand the motive behind the Crusades, and instead called the Crusades the "Frankish Invasions", owing to the fact that many of the Crusaders were Western European, which was termed Frankish in Arabic.Nevertheless, this essay does make some valid factual points such as the fact that the Crusades did enable trade of information and wealth, as well as culture and intellect. Also, the historical account of how the Crusades were instigated is also very correct and thorough. Thank you for this essay.

  • Good Descriptive Essay

The writer fulfills the requirements for this descriptive essay by describing in detail and with concrete examples qualities Mrs. Kappes possessed. In doing so, she explains why this is her favorite teacher.Although this essay may not have much use for others (unless they are writing an essay about Mrs. Kappes or they are writing about their favorite teacher and use the above essay as inspiration for what qualities they could list about their teacher), it is still well-structured and the main topic of this essay is convincingly corroborated throughout the body of the text. The conclusion ends in the word "finally" which is discouraged in some formal essay-writing classes but in this case, it is appropriate because the writer uses this word to signal the end of her essay and the concluding remarks.

  • Excellent Essay!

The above essay provides a well structured essay with clear ideas, albeit a lack of direction as to answering the essay question. The writer concludes that Frankenstein is evil because he used science to create a monster, and that this act of creation was immoral and should not be socially accepted. The writer does a good job of placing his topic into context especially in the introduction where he ties his topic to current events.

  • Not really an essay, but short answers to questions

The following is not really an essay, but rather a group of short answers to open-ended questions. Except for the last answer, the answers are the author's own and not very useful to others. Also, it is hard to understand the context of these responses based on the short text provided.

  • Great analysis + content, conclusion lacking

This essay is a great analysis of the book Lord of the Flies and its use of symbolism, characterization and themes to propel the underlying story. The introduction and the supporting body are great! However the last paragraph is not a proper conclusion, and we are left wondering what the writer wishes to finally impress upon the reader.
