really liked your essay. it's also interesting to note about psycho is hitchcock's emphasis on flight: many 'bird's eye view' shots, and also the name: marion crane; the stuffed birds in the Bates Motel; teh comment that she eats "like a sparrow" and many more if you look for them..

I completely agree with rockafeller about the violence in fairy tales, but I think that this is a reflection of how human beings are, by nature, violent. The violence in fairy tales acts like a venting of violent urges that cannot be acted out. By children reading about violence, could it also be that they are satisfying their violent urges?I don't know if I managed to get my message across clearly - we are violent by nature, thus this is reflected in our literature. [basically, maybe I should write an essay about this myself!]

I think this essay is very good in that it presents the ideas in a clear way and gives a very good overview of the subject

Interesting topic, however ideas tend to run into each other in this essay, making it a bit hard to understand (admittedly - unclear layout probably plays a large role in this)
