Major Characters.
- Charles Darnay (originally in the Evremonde family): The protagonist of the novel. He is a French aristocrat by birth. He rejects his inheritance and his title, wanting to earn an honest living as a tutor in England. He marries Lucie Manette. He is accused during the French Revolution, but is saved by Carton taking his place at the guillotine.
- Dr. Alexandre Manette: A French doctor who is imprisoned for eighteen years in Bastille by the Marquis St. Evremonde. He is later rescued, and brought back to life by his daughter, Lucie.

English: The Manette Bridge, in Bremerton, Washing...- Lucie Manette/Darnay: The daughter of Dr. Manetter, described as beautiful by both Carton and Darnay. She marries Charles Darnay. She gets along with everyone, and evreryone she meets show love and greetings to her.
- Sydney Carton: Looks almost identical to Charles Darnay in appearance. He drinks a lot and gets drunk often. He also loved Lucie Manette. He is a man of courage and word and shows it by replacing Charles Darnay and dying himself on the guillotine.
- Madame Defarge: Wife of Monsieur Defarge. She is cruel, embittered, and a vengeful woman. She knitted the names of the people who are to die in the revolution. She represents the bloody and violent aspect of the revolution.
- Monsieur Defarge: Husband of Madam Defarge. A wine seller in Paris. He was a servant of Dr. Manette and...
