What is critical thinking?Critical thinking is applying skills to analyze information that uses rationality to differentiate between sentiment and truth. All necessary information must be compiled in order to filter personal opinions and fact rationally. Information that is based on evidence to determine the best solution is considered being rational. Communication in any form is important in order for the thinking process to be helpful to others. Thinking has many faces, such as the communication through language, images, art, scientific formulas or mathematics (Kirby and Goodpaster, 2007). Kirby and Goodpaster (2007) stated that unexpressed thinking is important because it allows a person to think before speaking. Weighing the pros and cons is an important step in critical thinking.
