During a student's educative life they will be constantly assessed. Assessment is the key to how a student develops and how the education system as a whole monitors their students and helps them to reach higher goals.

Assessment diagnoses student's strengths and weaknesses and their learning needs to fulfil the course programme. The results of assessment allow students to get feedback on their own personal progress and allow them to make and action plan from this to assist them in their learning. It also gives tutors an insight into whether their resources and methods are working in the correct way and if not how they can improve them.

Assessment can take many forms whether it is a formal test or just a chat in the corridor. While the student may not be aware of it, the tutor is assessing there every word and making and diagnosis of their problem and will eventually create a remedy.
