Blood Donation

Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to donate blood regularly if their blood is safe to be transferred to another human being.

Central Idea: Donating blood helps save lives through a relatively simple and painless process that also provides numerous benefits to the donor.


I. Imagine your father has just suffered a heart attack and must undergo open-heart surgery in order to repair the damage.

A. Imagine your little nephew or niece baby was born with a heart defect and required daily transfusions of blood in order to have a chance at survival.

B. According to The Blood Center of Wisconsin more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.

II. According to American Red Cross every three seconds, someone in the United States needs blood.

A. You may not always see their faces, but the adults and children you help with your gift of blood are very real.

B. I am going to try and persuade you to donate blood and save a life.


I. You will be benefit by donating blood is as good for your health as it is for the receiver!

A. You will be able to feel the Joy of Saving Human Lives.

1. It is such a wonderful feeling being able to help doctors save human lives because according to every time you donate blood you can save up to three people life.

2. According to American Red Cross the blood you donate is divided into various components according to the needs of patients.

Each component can be used by different recipients for various purposes

3. Beneficial for weight watchers, you will burn 650 calories with every pint , which losing weight is an exciting out-come its self.
