The challenges involved in multi-agency approach of safeguarding children
Within this essay, the several challenges involved in the services protecting and safeguarding children will be explored. Furthermore, a critical analysis of multi-agency collaboration will be explored, highlighting the negative effects.
To begin, a definition of what safeguarding is and a brief description of what multi-agencies are and what they aim to achieve, then the challenges and benefits of multi-agency work will be described. Critical aspects of multi-agency collaboration will be identified, and why services work together and how these services work together to safeguard children. Also the importance of referring to policies and legislations, local and nationally, will be looked at when protecting vulnerable children and their families
Furthermore, by looking into different inquiries into child abuse and bereavement, major failings and complexities in multi-agency work can be critically analysed and the weaknesses of different services' shared responsibilities. For example, social services, health and education and the police department.
Statistics in relation to child abuse will be highlighted and discussed in relation to relevant literature. Another aspect to be looked at will be intervention, and emphasising the importance that professionals recognise the signs of child abuse. Moreover, the difficulties and the barriers of intervention will be discussed. In addition, some of the services available and services that are involved in safeguarding children and promoting welfare will be briefly highlighted.
