For a good Cover letter to a resume you have to sell yourself. Be very confident in what you state in the letter and be sure to relate it to the position you are applying for. Make the letter short but long enough so that you can give the prospective employer a good idea of why you would be an asset to the company. Also be sure to emphasize your strong points and past job experience that would relate to the position you are applying for.

Dear Mr. Smith:
I am writing in response to the advertisement for a foreign business sales representative in the Sun-Sentinel newspaper. I am extremely interested in working for your company as this has been my career objective for many years.
I have a passion for traveling and a dedication to my career. I feel that I am adequately qualified for this position and that I have a lot to offer to your company. I am aware of the importance of good customer service skills and I have had extensive experience in customer service which I feel would be a valuable asset to your company.
For the past two and a half years I have worked in the medical field which I have come to consider one of the toughest professions when it comes to customer service. People become the most difficult to handle when they are patients and you are dealing with their health. Through this experience I have learned how to deal with the such strenuous situations and to result in having a satisfied customer.
I have an intense interest in pursuing and overcoming difficult challenges,

Don't send a resume without a cover letter.
Don't make the reader guess what you are asking for; be specific: Do you want a summer internship opportunity, or a permanent position at graduation; are you inquiring about future employment possibilities?
