The Miami School District is about to rezone the school boundaries for the upcoming year because of a huge influx of students. The problem with rezoning the school district's boundaries is the amount of students who will not be able to stay at their present school. Parents are not very happy about this situation and have given five different oppositions to this plan. The reasons are: quality of education, increased travel time, crossing economic and cultural boundaries, impact on property values, and social impacts on children. This paper will discuss the impacts of these reasons for objections, who the stakeholders' are, a negotiation strategy that will support the school board's need to redraw boundaries while addressing the concerns of stakeholders', and how the ethical and cultural differences will impact the decision made.

Impact of Objections

The parents of the students involved in the rezoning of the school district have given five reasons why they do not want the rezone to happen. The reasons are: quality of education, increased travel time, crossing economic and cultural boundaries, social impacts on the children. The first reason against the rezoning of the school district was quality of education. In this case, the parents do not know the teachers who will be involved with their children. Some parents may have to switch from a private school which has very few teachers, one-on-one time with their students, and very close to the family themselves.
