Do not plan to get up and get a soda or a bag of popcorn during this coming-of-age drama! This movie, set in Tulsa, Oklahoma during the 1960's, includes young heartthrobs such as Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, and Emilio Estavez. The Outsiders, based on S.E. Hinton's book of the same name, is a movie that always makes you want to watch more. Your eyes stay glued to the television screen.

Fourteen-year-old orphan Ponyboy Curtis(C. Thomas Howell) lives with his two older brothers, Darrel (Patrick Swayze) and Sodapop Curtis (Rob Lowe), on the wrong side of the tracks. His social group, the Greasers, and the upscale Socs seem to always have it in for each other. One night, when at the drive-in, Ponyboy, Johnny Cade (Ralph Macchio), and Dallas Winston (Matt Dillion) meet one of the beauties from the enemy gang, Cherry Valance (Diane Lane).

Later that night, the drunken Socs find Ponyboy and Johnny and want revenge because they were with one of their girls.

After watching this movie, I noticed that it was different from the book. But if you were to watch this movie by itself and not compare it to the book, this movie stands alone. There is not a movie like it that I have ever seen. After you have seen this movie the first time, you will want to watch it over and over again.

Out of four stars, I would give this movie three. This movie has bad special effects and differs from the book. The music is not so good either. I would, though, recommend this movie to anyone. Just make sure you have your soda and popcorn ready before you begin to watch this eye-catching thriller!
