Drawing upon the essays listed, write an essay in which you define the "American Dream," then describe some of the obstacles to achieving it. How, in your opinion, might some of these obstacles be either surmounted or removed?

The ultimate goal. The driving force that keeps societies pushing and individuals striving. Obtainable, as most visions are, but demanding in discipline and focus. The American Dream. Our consuming desires, profit shares, and domestic hopes are all summed up in a diverse and flexible definition of what people in our society call the American Dream.

To some, the American Dream is something physically obtained by a series of hard work and achievements. A nice house in the suburbs, with a decent -sized, fenced in yard, a dog, and some children complete a successful picture for one in today's society. People want to be successful, and depending on what their definition of success is, will be able to achieve it.

Not only Americans strive for these successes. Immigrants to America may come in hope of finding this American Dream, as well as the poverty stricken and many others in search for there own dreams of freedom and prosperity.

I believe the American Dream to be an idea, not a set of physical accomplishments, and material items to show for it that so many perceive it as. I view it, as a sum of what one wants to make of him or her. America offers a plethora of opportunity with a good starting foundation to execute these dreams, which should be taken advantage of to their fullest extent.

There is epiphany that this talked- about way of life in America is not always so easy. Many obstacles burden the paths of people trying to push through and succeed. Some of these obstacles...
