Making a decision takes time and critical thinking. A person must analyze the advantages and disadvantages in order to come to a decision. For example, the decision of pursuing advancement in the professional field is a major one. Making a choice such as moving to another job, or requesting more pay can be a difficult decision for some individuals to make. These major decisions must be thought out carefully, and analyzed to determine what the best decision is. This is a decision that I must make. In my current position as an Administrative Assistant, I am considering a possible advancement in my organization. The problem I am facing with Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids is the company does not have any room for advancement in my department. I must make a choice of whether or not to remain in my current position and wait for a position to become available, or leave the organization and pursue other options.

I will be using the SWOT analysis to help me in the decision making process. I believe the criteria matrix and the force field analysis would not challenge my decision making skills as I know the SWOT analysis will. The criteria matrix would just categorize my thoughts of what I think is good or bad about the company and would not go into detail. The force field analysis would look more at the forces of what makes Baker Hughes meet a specific goal or what is preventing the company from meeting a goal. The SWOT analysis seems like a better avenue to take to make my decision.
