During World War II, more than 50 million people died. The government has started to comprehend that they needed to prevent the same incident on reoccurring, by doing this they have decided to create a strong and effective organization based on keeping world peace and other international issues.

On October 23, 1945, a total of 51 of the world's government joined together at Sans Francisco to form a world organization called the "United Nations". The United Nations is a global community that settles disputes peacefully and fairly. It is the only international forum in which all nations can be represented. The seven key members of the UN include: US, Britain, France, Italy, Russia, Australia and China.

Before the establishment of the UN, an organization was already found after WWI IN 1919. This organization is called the "League of Nations", its aims and goals are to maintain peace, which is quite similar to the United Nations.

However, when the Second World War broke out, it became clear that the League of Nations has failed its aim of maintaining peace and harmony. The organization had little real power and depended on member nations for support. Therefore, United Nations was established after World War II to replace the aim of the League of Nations and to work more efficiently.

The emblem of the United Nations is known amongst everyone, as it symbols the United Nations as a whole. The emblem presents a world map bordered by branches from an olive tree. This depicts a symbol of world peace.

The members of the UN have agreed to work together to try to make a world more peaceful and prosperous place. There are now 192 countries that are members of the United Nations and have committed themselves to its aim.
