French Chemist Antoine Laurent Lavoisier, "fathter of modern chemistry" was born in Paris in 1743 and died in 1794. His complete education during his lifetime was directed towards the study of sciences.

Lavoisier studied many fields of science: geology, where he attempted to make a theory of earth's formation. He also studied meterology. When he was 20 yrs. old he came up with the idea of predicting wheather and putting it in a future day forecast. Later on Lavoisier became a chemist. He specialized in chemical analysis seperating elements from mixtures and measuring out the elements of compounds. The first papers Lavoisier wrote were on mineralogy and hydrology. They were of analysis and studies on gypsm, diamonds, meteorites, chacoal, lead and mineral waters. In 1772 the field of gases in Chemistry opened. Laqvoisier took up researching and experimenting with gases. IN march of 1775 he carriedout his famous experiment of twelve days and twelve nights on red oxide of mercury.

When lavosier did an experiment that opposed Aristotles four elements theory many diagreed with him. BUt in 1785 before a large audience he proved that bater was not a single simple elementbut thast it was made up of hydrogen and oxygen. this is when he redefined arisatotles conception. By now he was famous for writing papers on his work and weel known. He formulated the first principles of thermochemistry and gave chemistry its first general laws
