  • Not great

The author atacks Freud's views because the author believes that religion grew from a need for morality, not fear of nature. However Freud makes clear in the book that once civilisation learnt more about nature the role of religion changed to justify the laws of society, which no longer seemed relevent. As such religion changed to monotheism, with emphasis on the father God figure, to restate the moral laws.

  • Why the title?

What happened to Hinduism? Islam is not realy an "acient" religion. This essay is a fairly brief outline of the beginings of Islam, nothing more.

  • Well written

Although I dont agree with the stance of the author, the arguement is to the point and well set out. Nice.

  • Cracking insight

"Lennie was already in heaven..." - Fantastic image, nice one. Those interested should read Steinbeck's "Sweet Thursday" as an uplifting antidote to "Of Mice and Men", it deals with similar issues yet reaches different conclusions.

  • This is not a great essay

I am not sure what definition of religion is in question here. The main thrust seems to be repeated over and over to no real conclusion.
