Bullying

Bullying is something that many people are victim of. Approximately 12, 8-10 year old children commit suicide every year because they are victims of bullying, whereas 1.3 million children bully others every year. "Bullying is a pattern of repeated aggressive behaviour with negative intent, directed from one youth to another where there is a power imbalance." Moreover, bullying is done by an individual or a group to obtain power over someone. Mostly, bullies do this in order to get people's attention and to get popular.

Characteristics of bullingBullies have personalities that are authoritarian, and often want to show dominance. They never suffer from low self-esteem. Infact, from bullying, they boost their self-esteem and confidence. Bullies don't have so much of self control. They can't control their anger. To protect one self, a bully will blame others, and keep his/her self image well in front of others. Bullies often develop this behaviour from childhood.

Categorize of BullingBullying can be broken down into two categories. First, direct bullying which involves physical aggression like poking, shoving, throwing things, slapping, choking, punching and kicking, beating, stabbing, pulling hair, scratching, biting, and pinching. Second is indirect bullying, which causes the victim into social isolation. Meaning left alone and no one will talk to that person. Indirect bullying can include spreading of gossip, refusing to socialize with the victim, and criticizing the victim's manner of dress and other things like race, religion, and disability.
