Michael Jackson, also known as the "king of pop" was born Michael Joseph Jackson, on August 29, 1958. He was born in Gary, Indiana. Jackson has lived almost all of his life as a public performer. As a child, beginning at the age of four, he was a member of the Jackson Five. It was not long before he was the group's lead vocalist and front man. When onstage, his dance moves and vocal styling were modeled after James Brown. He showed absolute self-confidence when on stage that contradicted his private, shy, real life personality.

He moved on to become a solo artist and one of the most famous men of all time. However, now that Michael Jackson has become one of the most bizarre characters in music history, many of his contributions to the music industry have been overlooked.
