Michael Jackson, also known as the "king of pop" was born Michael Joseph Jackson, on August 29, 1958. He was born in Gary, Indiana. Jackson has lived almost all of his life as a public performer. As a child, beginning at the age of four, he was a member of the Jackson Five. It was not long before he was the group's lead vocalist and front man. When onstage, his dance moves and vocal styling were modeled after James Brown. He showed absolute self-confidence when on stage that contradicted his private, shy, real life personality.

He moved on to become a solo artist and one of the most famous men of all time. However, now that Michael Jackson has become one of the most bizarre characters in music history, many of his contributions to the music industry have been overlooked. But regardless of his numerous plastic surgeries, peculiar behavior and popularity in the tabloids, Jackson has to be viewed as a music legend.

The Jackson Five were signed to Motown Records in the end of 1968. Their early releases, included chart-toppers I'll Be There, and I Want You Back. These releases demonstrated Michael's extraordinary level of maturity. Although at the time Michael was too young to have experienced the romantic situations that were the subject of many of his songs, he performed each with absolute genuineness, showing all the characteristics of an immense soul...
