Serial Killer Project

For my serial killer project, I chose to write about Charles Manson. He is among the top 10 most violent and murderous serial killer's, due to his part in the brutal slayings in Hollywood in the 60's and 70's. Charles Miller Maddox was born on November 12, 1934 in Cincinnati; his mother was a 16 year old prostitute and ragging alcoholic. She soon got married to William Manson, thus how Charles got his famous last name. The marriage soon ended and Charles was left to fend for himself on the streets, and began to partake in some petty crimes. By the age of 18 he had been in and out of jail over a dozen times, when he was in jail he was noted as being a "model prisoner".

In 1955, Manson married a young 17 year old girl and moved to California, she soon became pregnant.

However due to his continued involvement in crimes she left with their child and Manson landed back in jail by 1956. By 1957 Manson was again in and out of jail but this time for crimes such as "pimping" and "check fraud". He was sent to the McNeil Island Prison in Washington state for the next 10 years. While in jail he learned his passion of music and also rapped a fellow inmate with a razor blade. On March21, 1967 he was finally released from jail. After his release Manson got caught up in the unconventional lifestyle of the 60's and 70's. He began to use LSD, magic mushrooms, and other powerful hallucinogenic drugs. He also became obsessed with cult-quasi-religious groups that began to emerge in the late 60's.
