Even with the vast array of economic changes in society already mentioned as well as the decrease in the housing market, the auto industry has struggled to maintain. Making strategic decisions that sharpen the auto industry’s competitive edge is complex and fast-changing. By gaining insight into future industry trends worldwide, comparing countries over time, obtaining data and analysis in the most cost-effective and flexible way will assist in completing a concise and comprehensive forecast that will benefit the industry overall.

Economic Final ProjectIntroductionThe automotive industry is the industry involved in the design, development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of motor vehicles. In 2006, more than 60 million motor vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles were produced worldwide; 16 million new automobiles were sold in the U.S.; 15 million in Western Europe; 7 million in China; and one million in India (Wikipedia, 2007).

Substantial production cuts for the U.S. auto makers created earnings pressure for auto makers, and which also rippled to parts suppliers.

Optimism over falling oil prices and a stall in interest rate hikes along with industry consolidation has kept the auto industry from falling apart.
