IntroductionWhen putting a group of individuals together to accomplish a specific task, it is important to determine which individuals will make the most cohesive group possible in order to get the job done right. That is not to say that even when the right people for the job are put together that there won't still be hurdles to overcome. Let's look at a group of individuals that are set out to accomplish the task of designing a luxury car by working together with their varying skills and find out exactly what it takes to make a group a team.

Assembling the GroupFor our purposes we will need an: assessor/advisor, creator, controller/organizer, promoter/maintainer, and a linker/producer. In this scenario we will choose John as the assessor/adviser as he has experience in managing automotive development and manufacturing, coupled with his personal interest of sharing his knowledge with others. These traits designate him as the best possible candidate for the position in that it is one that is meant to offer insightful analysis of options, and encourage the search for more information.

Harvey was chosen for the position of creator, initiating creative ideas, as he has the experience as well as colleagues that state he is "versatile, creative, and detail-oriented". All of these are qualities that are perfect for the position of creator. From creativity to structure, we need to choose a controller/organizer. This person will need to examine details and enforce rules set out by the manufacturer as well as provide structure to the group setting. Marcell is chosen for this position as he is an experienced project manager, former colleague's state that he has assisted them in staying on the right track.
