A Woman of Strength

Beauty, patience, and strength; these words come to mind when thinking of the ideal woman. My grandmother, Jerri Self, exemplified these characteristics. If you had had the opportunity to meet her, the first thing you would have noticed would have been her striking physical beauty. She had short-sandy blonde hair and beautiful deep green eyes. Her smile was radiant, and her nose was very distinct in that it was elongated with a small hump in the middle.

After talking with my grandmother you would have noticed that more than physical appearance, however, she possessed an inner beauty. She had an outgoing personality, and people were drawn to her because of it. One thing about her that stands out in my mind is her laugh. Her laugh was contagious, and when she laughed you couldn't help laughing with her.

My grandmother was also a very patient woman.

I remember one time when my sister and I were spending the night with our grandparents; our grandfather helped us catch some toads. Later that night, after we all got in the bed, I started having nightmares and hallucinations that the toads were jumping around in the bed. I remember thinking that one was on my sister. Of course I started screaming, so my grandmother came into the room to see what was wrong. She talked to me and tried to explain to me that there were no toads in the room. I finally calmed down, so she left the room to go back to sleep. Soon after she left I saw the toads again. When I started screaming the second time, she decided to come sleep in the room with me so that I would be able to get to sleep. Even though I thought the toads...
