Gay marriage has been in the news with Obama voicing his support for this, striking down the Defense of Marriage act as being unconstitutional. What is your position?

INTRO: 1. Define key words : Marriage is traditionally defined as the union of a man and a woman. A gay marriage refers to a union of same-sex couples.

1. State your position: First, I think homosexuality or the one-sided focus of human relationships is unnatural. There is a plan and purpose why humanity comes in two forms --male and female. Even in the animal kingdom, the same purpose of procreation via the union of male and female is essential. Hence, I believe that while friendships can be made with those of the same sex, marriage is a deeper union of intimacy between two people and this, is where the difference in a man and a women's nature complement each other. Therefore, I do not agree that gay marriage should be encouraged .

By legislating and giving it federal benefits, it opens the door to people who otherwise may not even consider such a relationship.

2. Though much in the news, gay marriage has actually only been approved in 12 countries; it is approved in only 10 out of the 50 states in the US and some in Brazil and Mexico. This is only a fraction of the world community and though, there have been large scale protests and demonstrations, the majority of countries and peoples are able to stand on their convictions as to what they consider intuitively right.
