My idol would be Beck Weathers. He was the incredible person that managed to survive the 1996 Everest disaster. Beck went snow-blind in the Death-Zone of Everest and spent a night there out in the open during a blizzard that took away the lives of his nine colleagues. He had frostbites so extreme that it seems impossible for him to ever have survived, but with sheer will power he staggered his way back to camp.

        I belief Beck Weathers courage and tenacity deserves to be applaud. Under those kind of harsh conditions of not only the mountain and the blizzard,

the chances of anyone staying there in the open for a night and survive is almost zero. Also, after the expedition, Beck lost the use of his hands, scared his face badly but still he persevered, telling himself that life had to go on.

        Beck's strong mental abilities are much admired by me and I really hope to be able to have his equally strong focus on the will to go on.

In the lives of we people, we face many challenges, many obstacles and to be able to cope with the sheer pressure from school or work we need to be mentally strong. Examples would be like in school, we have to complete large amount of homework when the exams are coming, while at the same time commit to the CCAs we are in.

Another example would be at work, when the workers got to meet the completion of a project's deadline and parents got to still ferry their children from school to home or fulfill their needs during working hours.

        Another good quality of Beck is to be able to cope with depression. Suffering from severe injuries that could disable him, he still managed to thrive on. We...
