Witch Child By: Celia Rees The story I read was called "Witch Child" by Celia Rees. The story takes place in 1659. It's about a 14 year old girl named Mary whose grandmother, Eliza is accused of witchcraft. She was locked up for more then a week. She would not confess the truth. Finally after a few days they executed Eliza and Mary is forced to leave her home so she wont be accused also. First she goes to the English countryside. People start getting suspicious because of her skills of reading, writing, and healing. So she leaves on a boat to go to America.
During this time Mary realizes that the past is not so easy to escape or forget. While Mary was on the ship she had a piece of paper and ink to record her days. Also while she was on the ship she had met a lady and was with her most of the time.

Mary travels through the hills. Then Martha and Mary are own their own, they live in the forest. But live worse then beggars. After a while of living there they meet someone named Jonah who feeds them. Towards the end of the book someone witnesses Mary and she has to go back to the woods to live there again.
