  • What are we talking about here?

I think it would really help this piece if you would--for the sake of your arguement--define pornography; people don'y always know pornography when they see it and what's offensive to one person is not offensive to another. Setting out your clear and concise definition of what material you're talking about would do a world of good for this essay.Nice read, thanks.

It's funny that pro-lifers use half- statistics the way that they do...only 1% of rapes result in conCeption? The FBI estimates that only 37% of all rapes are reported to the police. U.S. Justice Department statistics are even lower, with only 26% of all rapes or attempted rapes being reported to law enforcement officials. In 1994-1995, only 251,560 rapes and sexual assaults were reported to law enforcement officials -- less than one in every three.(National Crime Victimization Survey, Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice, 1996.)You should get all of the facts before making it sound as clear-dut as you did.

  • Looking back

This essay does in it towards women the very thing you are acusing the film of "doing" to men. Discover a history book and realize that one or two movies that degrade men by far doesn't make up for eons of degredation by men.

Are you a literary critic? You should write a book of our own then.

  • Extreme much?

Certainly, I agree that the bulk of the laws and the people that we are governed by are out-of-date, idiotic, and far too large in number. However, I don't agree that getting rid of any form of government all together is the answer...then you're just moving the the other extreme and end up getting rid of the old problems, yes, but moving onto a new set of problems.

  • I never thought about it that way....

You cite a ton of info here. I do wonder if at times you are grasping at straws a little bit. Excellent debate topic.
