For many years the death penalty has been the sentence for murderers, rapists, and other serial criminals. But in recent months it has been a discrepancy in whether the death penalty should or should not be legal. There are many arguments for both sides of this case but most believe that capital punishment should be abolished. I, myself believe that capital punishment is not the way we should deal with murderers or other criminals. Capital punishment is incongruous and incompatible with our present standard or civilization and humanity. Punishment is supposed to be for protection of society and for the reformation of the wrongdoer. But this is not true in this case because it kills the person guilty of a crime so they can't do it again but recent studies show that murder is seldom a career of repeated acts but as single acts by different individuals. Also many times a judge or jury can make mistakes and they charge the innocent person for the crime.

Capital punishment also sins most by depriving the man/woman guilty of his/her chances of reformation. A study has shown that most of the people who commit a murder are in a state of insanity and are not sure of what they are doing. In this case they should have a chance or being reformed and starting their life again. If they were put to death they would have no chance and that wouldn't be fair. But if they were sentenced to prison they could get a hold of themselves and maybe get an education so if they get released they could start a new life. Capital punishment could also be said to go against the amendments and the constitution in that matter human right and serial criminals should be delt with on a more humane level.
