1. Introduction

Personal Profile

I am a graduate with M.PharmSci in Pharmaceutical science. I currently work in an Absence management Organisation called Firstcare. I work within the contact centre department, as a Lead agent/Team leader. I have gained customer service expertise and experience within the call Centre industry.

I am now completing my masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences with management studies, with the aim to progress in my career and potentially progress into regulatory affairs project management.

The main objective of this essay is to examine the importance of the role and activities of a Human Resource Manager in a medium to large Pharmaceutical organisation such as GSK in the United Kingdom. I will determine this by analysing a context analysis on both the external (PEST) and Internal (SWOT) impacts on the industry and organisation respectively. Dependent on the results of my findings, I will then conclude and also discuss, compare and contrast on the importance on the different managements, HRM and line manager.
