Racism is about categorizing ,it is about ignorance, it is about neglecting ,it is about failing to recognise a racist/hate crime. It is about not listening or understanding and not being interested in listening or understanding. It is about black and Asian, Muslim people being seen as a problem. Racism is a form of discrimination based on race ,especially the belief that one race is superior to another.

There is a link between race and crime. It was asserted in 1995 when the metropolitan commissioner, Sir Paul Condon, stated that 80 percent of mugging in high crime areas were carried out by young black man (Joyce 2006:476).This statement implied that the colour of persons skin and nationality were responsible for certain types of crimes. Such negative views of black people served to weaken the trust which these communities had of the police.

Macpherson report suggested a number of reforms to ensure that the criminal justice system is fair with ethnic minorities.

In this essay the changes recommended by Macpherson report to tackle racism in policing are being judged. Macpherson report suggested a number of reforms which were designed to ensure that criminal justice system was fair to all communities.

The media tells us that there is no racism in police service ,but there is always a two sides of every story. The writing will explain some recommendations which police service applied and how affective they are.
