ABSTRACT

Human resource management is covers more ground than people might initially imagine. Some may define it as the interactions between employer and employees in the time period between which an employee is hired, until they are terminated. While this is true, human resources management begins even before this, with the policies that are created by the institution, and the laws that govern workplace relations (Blessinger).

In an article by L. Dobb and P. Dick, (1993) stated:

Human Resource Management is the process of working with people so that they and their organizations reach full potential even when change precipitates the need to acquire new skills, assume new responsibilities, and form new relationships.

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this study is to acknowledge and understand the changing relationships in the workplace and how those changes have impacted the development of labor relations in the United States.

One of the critical factors in business success is the role of human resources. Applying labor relations analyses, activities and methodologies in the planning, implementation and structure and/or restructuring an organization. This discussion will include the history and laws of labor relations, the collective bargaining process, the cost of labor contracts, and labor relations process in action.

We will also highlight the role of Human Resource, its various functions, and the effects of diversity in business. Hopefully, we will learn whether a business can be successful or viable without...
